Job summary

Management & Training Corporation in Livingston, TX is hiring a full-time cook for the IAH Secure Adult Detention Facility. You will prepare meals according to pre-planned menus and oversee kitchen operations to keep the area safe, clean, and sanitary.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook quantities of food required according to menu and number of detainees.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
• Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
• Prepare foods for special facility functions and visitors and assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
• Supervise detainees assigned to assist in the kitchen.
• Requires long periods of walking and standing and the pushing and pulling of food carts.

Work with a purpose! IAH Secure Adult Detention Facility located in Livingston, Texas, is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside.
What you\'ll do: You\'ll be responsible for the preparation of facility meals in accordance with pre-planned menus. Additional duties include:

• Prepare and cook quantity of food required according to menu and number of detainees.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean and sanitary at all times.
• Maintain accountability of kitchen tools.
• Prepare foods as directed for special facility functions and visitors and assist in cleaning kitchen work areas following each meal.
• Supervise detainees assigned to assist in the kitchen.
• Requires long periods of walking and standing and the pushing and pulling of food carts.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Food service training, one (1) year of food service or related experience and prior supervisory experience are preferred.
• Must obtain a food handlers permit within the first week of employment and successfully complete required preservice training.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
