Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center in Reno, NV, seeking a dedicated kitchen staff member to prepare center meals according to approved menus and guidelines. You will work full-time, Monday through Thursday with overtime as needed, supporting safe, hygienic food service.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, 1 year of food handling experience, and ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience as a food handler.
• Must possess a current ServSafe (Food Handler) Certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for all center operations according to pre-planned menus and government directives.
• Instruct cook helpers and work-based learning students on safe, hygienic food preparation.
• Maintain and sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Prepare foods for special center functions and visitors.
• Assist with cleaning duties to support cafeteria operations.
• Manage stockroom commodities and recommend replenishments.
• Promote positive customer service throughout the facility.

Wage: $19.19 per hour
Schedule –Full Time,5:00 am to 1:30 pm, Thursday thru Monday with occasional overtime.

Whatyou will be doing:You’ll be responsiblefor the preparation of all center meals in accordance with pre-planned menus in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential functions:

1. Assist in instructing cook helpers and work-based learning students in the safe, hygienic method of preparing and serving appetizing, eye-appealing meals.
2. Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition, and ensure the work area is safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
3. Prepare foods as directed for special center functions, visitors and off-center assignments.
4. Assist in cleaning assignments to assist in the cafeteria.
5. Responsible for stockroom commodities and for recommending replenishment items.
6. Promote and support positive customer service through the facility.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year experience as a food handler.
• Must possess a current ServSafe (Food Handler) Certification or obtain within 30 days of employment.
