Job summary

Talbott Hotel in Chicago is seeking a Cook II to lead and supervise kitchen operations across all outlets, including restaurant, café, room service, cafeteria, and banquets. You will ensure quality, portioning, and presentation while coordinating with staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

The role requires supervisory capability, high-pressure performance, and strong communication. A culinary background with leadership experience is preferred, with state-mandated Food Handler

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5+ years progressive kitchen experience or culinary degree with 1 year in hotel/related field.
  • Food Handler Certification required (comply with state requirements).
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure while evaluating situations.
  • Strong communicator who actively listens and conveys ideas clearly.

KEY SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Culinary Craftsman: Prepare and supervise food items with precision, ensuring every dish meets high standards of quality, portioning, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Captain: Lead and assist kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations and consistently deliver high-quality food and service.
  • Solution Strategist: Anticipate challenges and resolve issues proactively to keep kitchen operations running smoothly.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience, or a culinary graduate with at least 1 year of experience in a hotel or related field.
  • Food Handlers Certification required.(must comply with State requirements)
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, maintaining composure while quickly evaluating situations and determining the best course of action
  • A strong communicator who listens actively to understand concerns raised by coworkers and guests, and effectively conveys ideas and solutions
