Job summary

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa is seeking a Cook I to join our kitchen team under the Sous Chef. You will prepare menu items, grill, fry, or pantry dishes, ensuring plates meet quality and presentation standards.

This role requires basic food prep knowledge, the ability to work flexible shifts, and the stamina to stand, lift up to 40 lbs, and maintain a clean, safe workstation in a fast-paced casino environment. Strong teamwork and communication are essential to support our dining operations.

Qualifications

• Basic food preparation knowledge and line work experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain licenses/certifications per regulations.
• Minimum one year of experience as Cook Trainee or coffee shop line cook or related education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods for grilling, frying, broiling, or pantry, ensuring plates are appealing and cooked to spec.
• Recognize sauces and apply them correctly to daily entrees.
• Keep workstation neat and clean and assist coworkers for efficient operation.
• Work in a hot, noisy environment and handle hazards with safety awareness.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment (slicers, choppers, mixers, grinders) and review recipes.
