Job summary

Health & Human Services Comm in Abilene State Supported Living Center seeks a Cook I to join the Food Service team. The role involves routine journey-level food preparation on a designated shift, following menus, recipes and safety standards in the Central Kitchen.

You will help ensure sanitation, proper food handling for regular and therapeutic diets, and may supervise others. Candidates should be willing to work weekends/holidays and may be required to work varied hours or drive an occasional

Qualifications

• Experience in food preparation work.
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.
• Ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food using proper equipment and utensils and in a manner that ensures sanitary conditions.
• Prepares and portions food for special diets following food service procedures.
• May supervise assigned employees in all areas of food preparation, delivery, sanitation, safety and personal hygiene.
• Follows kitchen and food service safety procedures and practices.
