Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is hiring Nutrition Services/Cook Helper at Minnetonka Middle School West. Two positions, 4–6 hours daily, weekdays only, starting for the 2026-2027 year. Training occurs the week before school, with assignment subject to staffing needs.

Wages start at $21.72 per hour; six‑hour shifts include medical and dental eligibility. Details in Schedule A will follow. Responsibilities include assisting in food preparation, heating and serving, cleaning, and basic cashier duties.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification desirable.
• Computer experience helpful.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must enjoy working with students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as assessed in a preplacement evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Heat, cook, and pre-dish food under supervision and set up serving areas.
• Portion, garnish, and serve food items according to instructions.
• Clean up kitchen and serving areas following procedures.
• Maintain standards of safety and sanitation in handling and serving food.
• Accurately perform record‑keeping as requested by Cook Manager.
• Assist in preparing food items.
• Performs point-of-sale and cashiering duties as part of kitchen rotation.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Nutrition Services/Cook Helper

Location: Minnetonka Middle School West (MMW).

Assignment

Two positions available starting the 2026-2027 school year. 4-6 hours per day – applicant choice in half‑hour increments. Positions work all school days. Training and kitchen opening will take place the week before school starts (August 24-26). Building assignment subject to change based on staffing needs.

Wages and Benefits

Wages: $21.72. 6‑hour positions provide medical and dental benefit eligibility. Rates and benefit details are available in Schedule A. New rates will be posted once finalized.

Job Responsibilities

1. Follows Cook Manager or Cook's instruction in heating, cooking, and pre‑dishing food, as well as setting up serving areas.
2. Follows instructions in portioning, garnishing and serving of food items.
3. Follows instructions and procedures in clean‑up of kitchen and serving areas.
4. Follows standards of safety and sanitation in handling, storing and serving of food items.
5. Accurately performs record‑keeping functions as requested by Cook Manager.
6. Assists in preparing food items.
7. Performs point‑of‑sale and cashiering duties as part of kitchen rotation.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
