Job summary

Minnetonka Public School Service Center is seeking a Cook Helper (Class I) at Clear Springs Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. 4-6 hours per day, with an hourly rate of $21.72. Training occurs the week before school starts (Aug 24–26).

6-hour shifts include medical and dental benefits; positions cover all school days. Responsibilities include heating, cooking, dishing, setting up serving areas, portioning, garnishing, serving, and cashiering during kitchen rotation.

Qualifications

• Must have basic math skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Must enjoy working with students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a team setting.
• Computer experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Heat, cook, and pre-dish food following Cook Manager instructions.
• Portion, garnish, and serve food items as instructed.
• Clean up kitchen and serving areas per procedures.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards for food handling.
• Record keeping as requested by Cook Manager.
• Assist in preparing food items and perform cashier duties as part of the rotation.
• Perform other duties of similar nature or level.

Assignment

Position available starting the 2026-2027 school year.

4-6 hours per day - applicant choice in half hour increments.

Building assignment subject to change based on staffing needs.

Position works on all school days.

Training and kitchen opening will take place the week before school starts on August 24-26.

Wages and Benefits

$21.72 per hour.

6 hours per day positions provide medical and dental benefit eligibility.

Job Responsibilities

• Follows Cook Manager instruction in heating, cooking, and pre-dishing food, as well as setting up serving areas.
• Follows instructions in portioning, garnishing and serving of food items.
• Follows instructions and procedures in clean-up of kitchen and serving areas.
• Follows standards of safety and sanitation in handling, storing and serving of food items.
• Accurately performs record keeping functions as requested by Cook Manager.
• Assists in preparing food items.
• Performs point-of-sale and cashiering duties as part of kitchen rotation.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
