Job summary

Minnetonka Public Schools is seeking a Nutrition Services/Cook Helper for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves heating, cooking, portioning, serving food, and keeping areas clean, with duties including cashiering as part of rotation. Training occurs the week before school starts (Aug 24-26).

The position runs 4–6 hours daily, building assignment may change, and it applies to all school days. Wages start at $21.72 per hour with medical and dental eligibility for 6-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification desirable.
• Computer experience helpful.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Must have basic math skills.
• Must enjoy working with students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coworkers, supervisor, and the public.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as assessed by a preplacement physical.

Responsibilities

• Follows Cook Manager instructions in heating, cooking, and pre-dishing food, and sets up serving areas.
• Follows instructions for portioning, garnishing, and serving food items.
• Follows procedures in kitchen/serving area cleanup.
• Follows safety and sanitation standards in handling, storing and serving food items.
• Keeps accurate records as requested by Cook Manager.
• Assists in preparing food items.
• Performs point-of-sale and cashiering duties as part of kitchen rotation.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
