Job summary

The Woodlake Senior Living in Sacramento, CA is seeking a compassionate, professional Cook to provide an extraordinary dining experience for residents. You will prepare meals, follow menus for nutritional needs, and ensure appetizing presentation.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of experience on a fast-paced line or prep line preferred.
• Fluent in English (speak, read, and write).
• Background check and health screening requirements (LIC 508, LIC 503) are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve quality meals for residents, including those with special diets.
• Follow menu program or approved substitute to meet nutritional needs and preferences.
• Ensure plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for residents.
• Assist in planning and coordinating events for marketing and activities.
• Address resident concerns and preferences; monitor satisfaction.
• Adhere to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity, and rights.
• Follow infection control procedures and safety precautions.
• Complete required state trainings on hire and annually.

Responsibilities of the Cook

• Preparation and service of quality meals for all residents including those with special diet needs.
• Follows menu program or an approved substitute menu to ensure that nutritional needs and preferences of the residents are met.
• Ensures plate presentation is attractive and appetizing for the resident population.
• Assist in planning and coordinating special events for marketing and activities.
• Continuously monitor and appropriately address resident concerns and preferences.
• Adheres to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines.
• Ensure residents are provided privacy, respect, and dignity.
• Follows standard precautions and infection control procedures.
• Completes state required training upon hire and annually.

Required Experience

• Possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Desired 2-3 years of experience on a fast-paced line, or working at a prep cook line station.
• Ability to execute flawless dishes in a timely manner, with experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
• Senior Living experience a plus
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in the English language.
• State Criminal Background Check and LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement
• LIC 503 Health Screening Report
