Job summary

Compass Senior Living is seeking a Cook to prepare meals, assist in dining operations, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen for our senior residents. You will work under the Dining Services Director, ensuring nutritious, appetizing meals and a welcoming atmosphere for elders, families, and staff.

This role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to health regulations, and ongoing training to support resident well-being and dining services excellence.

Qualifications

• Formal culinary training or equivalent cook experience.
• Team-oriented with strong communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Food handlers permit or ability to obtain one as required by state regulations.
• English reading/writing/speaking with residents and coworkers.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Willingness to learn and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

The Cook is responsible for meal preparation, delivery, and cleanliness under appropriate health department regulations. This position assists in maintaining a positive physical and social environment for the elders.

• You will prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
• You will ensure meals are prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion and presented attractively.
• You will help the Dining Services Director orient new team members and schedule.
• You will greet elders, families, visitors, and team members, creating a friendly, positive environment.
• You will ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly.
• You will adhere to procedures regarding infection control and foodborne illness prevention.

Hours

7a-5pm - 3 shifts a week rotating weekend and holidays

What You’ll Bring

• You will be formally trained in the culinary arts or have equivalent experience as a cook.
• You will bring a willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• You will bring organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• You will have food handlers permit or be able to get one as required by state regulations.
• You will be willing to learn and work within a team environment.
• You will have good verbal communication and the ability to read, write, and speak English with residents and coworkers who only speak English.
