Job summary

Prismhr Hire is seeking a skilled Cook for an Assisted Living facility in Port Orange. This part-time role requires weekend availability and a passion for preparing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen.

You will work closely with the Culinary Director to plan menus, ensure food safety, and deliver inviting dining experiences for residents and guests.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years cooking in an assisted living kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent training is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Pass Level 2 background check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items per recipes, ensuring flavor and portions.
  • Assist in menu planning and development with new ideas.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order; report issues.
  • Manage food inventory, ordering, receiving, and storage.
  • Collaborate to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely orders.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on best practices.
  • Monitor quality and adjust portions to meet guest expectations.
  • Stay informed on cooking techniques and dietary requirements.

Reports to: Culinary Director

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing a variety of dishes and be committed to delivering high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure a seamless dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion size.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, contributing new ideas and seasonal dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by following proper sanitation and safety protocols.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Manage food inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies, while minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely delivery of orders.
  • Train and mentor junior cooks and kitchen staff as needed, promoting best practices and teamwork.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control, making adjustments as necessary to meet guest expectations.
  • Maintain knowledge of cooking techniques, food trends, and dietary restrictions to accommodate diverse customer needs.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Cook in a assisted living kitchen setting (2+ years preferred).
  • Culinary degree or equivalent training is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Creativity and passion for food, with a desire to continuously learn and improve culinary skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
