Job Summary

Under general supervision, prepares and cooks food for hospital patients, hospital employees, and visitors. Prepares food according to recipes, menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or portions. Maintains records of food use and expenditures. Follows HACCP guidelines and complies with regulatory standards.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares and serves food to customers and/or patients at various stations. (50%)
• Reads food orders or receives verbal instructions, and cooks food accordingly. (10%)
• Operates kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare ingredients. (10%)
• Records food and refrigeration temperatures and documents corrective actions. (10%)
• Reports equipment and supply issues to supervisor. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food. (5%)
• Maintains departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance, and safety standards. (5%)
• Ensures sanitary conditions and food quality standards are met. (5%)
• May receive inventory, handle foodstuffs, and prepare special diets. (5%)

Education:

• No High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:

• Less than 1 year required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of food preparation techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes.
• Understanding of safety hazards and precautions.
• Ability to learn cleaning chemicals and equipment safety.
• Skilled in following instructions and effective communication.
