Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a full-time Cook at Marshall University in Huntington, WV. You will prepare, portion, cook, and present hot and cold items for all meals and events, following Sodexo's culinary standards and safety guidelines in a fast-paced kitchen.

The role emphasizes quality, presentation, and teamwork. Shifts are afternoons/evenings with rotating weekends, and compensation ranges from $15 to $18 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards to ensure high-quality service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving a variety of dishes.
• Taste products, estimate requirements, check production, and keep records for planning.
• Significant walking or other mobility required.
• Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds (50 pounds occasionally).
• Perform repetitive motions and attend scheduled shifts on time.
• Other duties as assigned based on business needs.
