Job Requirements: Position Overview: Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) is seeking a Cook to join as a Dining Services Team Member. This role is responsible for all aspects of hot and cold food preparation, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring adherence to sanitation and food safety guidelines, while ensuring an excellent dining experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Service: Plan, prepare, and coordinate with the Dining Services Team Members to monitor food production and ensure timely, efficient service in all areas.
- Food Production: Prepare meals by following established recipes and procedures, ensuring food quality and consistency. Accurately estimate and prepare the right quantity of food to meet guest demand.
- Guest Engagement: Be knowledgeable about dietary needs and respond to guest inquiries with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Food Safety, Sanitation, & Cleanliness: Follow all food safety guidelines, sanitation practices, and cleanliness guidelines to ensure a safe kitchen and dining environment.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, kitchen items, and operating equipment, ensuring a safe environment for employees, yourself, and guests. Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work Area Organization: Maintain clean, orderly, and well-organized areas to enhance workflow efficiency and ensure easy access to supplies. Keep the kitchen areas clean and organized.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dining Team to monitor food production and ensure efficient service flow. Collaborate with the Dining Services Team to deliver high-quality food for guests.
- Equipment Maintenance Reporting: Identify and report any maintenance needs for Dining Services equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
- Communication & Reporting: Effectively communicate with dining staff, team members, and supervisors regarding incidents, needs, or issues.
- Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support overall Dining Services operations.
Other Experience and Qualifications:
- Alignment with GLCC's mission and values.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Prior experience in kitchen operations, cooking, and/or food service required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and walking for extended periods.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen and dining environment.
- Exposure to hot water, slippery floors, garbage disposals, and cleaning chemicals.
- Dependable, responsible, reliable, with a cooperative attitude, and a willingness to learn.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Schedule & Commitment: Full-time position with benefits, seasonal from April to October, with flexible scheduling based on organizational needs. Typical hours are rotating between 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Sunday to Saturday, schedule to be determined based on availability.
