This position functions as a lead worker overseeing prisoner workers in the preparation and service of meals for prisoners and staff in a correctional facility. The role involves using MDOC standardized processes, recipes, menus, and reports.

The Department of Corrections may screen out applicants with felony convictions in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants with misdemeanor or felony convictions are ineligible until satisfactory completion of any imposed sentences, including parole or probation.

New hires and returning employees after more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET), which includes 40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training, depending on their level of offender contact and job classification. Additional online training will be completed to meet training requirements.
