Job summary

French Prairie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Cook for a part-time position to prepare meals meeting resident dietary needs. The role requires 5 years of verifiable kitchen experience, preferably in a restaurant setting, and certification as a Food Handler or ServSafe as per state requirements.

The Cook will work to ensure meals comply with planned menus and dietary specifications, while maintaining sanitation and safety standards in a skilled nursing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Food Handler's permit / ServSafe certification as per State requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to relate positively and cooperatively with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion sizes, and safety procedures.
• Direct and assist in cleaning/sanitizing work areas, equipment, floors, dishes, and utensils.
• Check trays for menu and diet accuracy; ensure proper storage of food and supplies; follow sanitary protocols.
• Work in a non-temperature controlled environment near ovens and walk-in fridges/freezers.
• Ensure food/supplies are available for next meals and assist in inventorying incoming items.

Summary

The Cook is responsible to prepare food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications, facility procedures, and dietary and sanitary regulations under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager.

$21.27 - $27.31 per hour

Job Functions

• Prepare and serve food and meals food in accordance with planned menus, diet plans, recipes, portion, and temperature control procedures and facility policies.
• Direct and assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment and floors, dishes, and utensils.
• Check all trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracy; ensure proper storage of food and supplies; adhere to universal precautions and sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
• Be able to work in a non-temperature regulated environment (work near ovens, stoves, enter walk in refrigerators/freezers).
• Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies, and report any hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, and incidents.

• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to relate positively and favorably to residents, families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
