Job summary

Windsor House is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team, delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to residents while meeting dietary needs and resident preferences.

You will work with the Dietary Manager to ensure timely service, proper portion control, and high presentation standards in a clean, sanitary kitchen environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring nutrition, appeal, and adherence to dietary requirements.
  • Meal Service: Serve meals timely with high quality, proper portions, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Keep kitchen clean, organized, and sanitary per safety procedures.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with Dietary Manager and kitchen staff; train new staff as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory and report shortages to Diet Manager.
  • Resident Engagement: Accommodate special dietary requests and resident preferences.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
  • Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices.
