Job summary

Williamston House in the United States (Williamston, NC) is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and provide nutritious, high-quality meals to residents.

You will work with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to prepare meals, follow recipes and dietary plans, and ensure clean, sanitary conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Previous cooking experience in a senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting (preferred).

  • Compassion for and a desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, meeting dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Serve meals in a timely manner with quality, portion control, and good presentation.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary kitchen following food safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with Dietary Manager and kitchen staff; train new staff as needed.
  • Assist with inventory management and track food supplies; report shortages.
  • Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate resident preferences.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and proper sanitation practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
  • Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
  • Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices.
