Job summary

Greenbrier Senior Living in Virginia Beach is seeking a dependable Cook to join our dining services team. If you enjoy preparing delicious meals, working with a team, and making a difference in the lives of seniors, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities include preparing meals, ensuring nutrition and proper portions, maintaining cleanliness, and collaborating on menus while following safety standards and infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Culinary education is a plus.
• At least 1 year of cooking experience required, preferably in a restaurant, healthcare, senior living, or food service setting.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Passion for providing exceptional service.

• Prepare high-quality meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes
• Ensure meals are nutritious, properly portioned, and attractively presented
• Maintain proper food temperatures and prepare enough food to meet resident needs
• Assist with menu planning and food preparation
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards
• Clean cooking equipment, kitchen areas, and food preparation spaces
• Work with leadership regarding menus, therapeutic diets, and resident dietary needs
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen
• Perform other duties as assigned
