Position Summary

The Director of Dining Services is responsible for leading all dining operations within the community, ensuring residents enjoy a high-quality dining experience that exceeds expectations. This role oversees menu development, food preparation, staffing, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and overall dining services performance.

The ideal candidate is a hospitality-focused leader with experience in upscale dining, hotels, resorts, country clubs, healthcare dining, or senior living environments.

What You Will Do

Dining & Culinary Leadership

• Design, plan, and oversee an exceptional dining experience, including menu creation, meal presentation, and resident satisfaction initiatives.
• Ensure all meals are prepared and served according to established quality standards.
• Develop seasonal menus that provide variety, nutrition, and appeal.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.
• Ensure food is served at proper temperatures and in a timely manner.

Operations & Inventory Management

• Conduct weekly inventory of food, supplies, and dining service materials.
• Place orders and manage vendor relationships to ensure adequate inventory levels.
• Monitor food and labor costs while maintaining service excellence.
• Ensure compliance with all food service regulations, policies, and safety standards.
• Maintain proper sanitation throughout kitchen, storage, and dining areas.
• Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and develop dining services staff.
• Maintain employee records and ensure team members receive ongoing training.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment focused on hospitality and service excellence.
• Participate in performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and employee development.

Resident Experience

• Build strong relationships with residents and families.
• Respond promptly to feedback and continually enhance the dining experience.
• Create memorable dining events, special menus, and holiday celebrations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Ensure workplace safety practices are consistently followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and is expected to operate independently while exercising sound judgment and leadership. The Director of Dining Services supervises dining services employees and is responsible for scheduling, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary action when necessary.

Qualifications

Required

• Culinary degree or equivalent culinary training.
• Certificate in Food Service Supervision.
• Current ServSafe Certification.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a high-volume, upscale dining environment such as a hotel, resort, country club, healthcare facility, or senior living community.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience managing budgets, food costs, inventory, and staffing.

Preferred

• Additional certification in restaurant sanitation.
• Senior living, healthcare, hotel, or resort dining experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance.
