Job summary

Aviva Senior Living in Nashville is seeking a Cook to prepare meals according to planned menus, accommodate special diets, and support a fine dining experience for residents.

You will maintain kitchen sanitation, manage prep and inventory, and collaborate with the team to deliver compassionate, high-quality dining services in a senior living community.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One to two years of related work experience preferred.
  • SERVE Safe Certification (or ability to achieve certification).
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to safely handle food in accordance with facility policies and procedures, as well as all state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all residents, resident family members, and associates.
  • Maintain a high degree of resident and guest satisfaction through consistent delivery of high‑quality services.
  • Effectively and appropriately communicate with each co-worker and community leader.
  • Prepare and present meals according to the planned menus, accommodating special diets, in a fine dining style.
  • Performs prep work for upcoming meals and events.
  • Completes food inventory on hand, accounting for usage and deliveries.
  • Maintains refrigerator and freezer in a clean and organized manner as well as proper temperature control, ensuring proper food temperatures for hot and cold items.
  • Assure foods are prepared, stored, and labeled according to proper kitchen and food procedures.
  • Always ensure only food serving items are present in and around the serving station.
  • Use cleaners and other hazardous materials according to department procedure.
  • Complete and adhere to all other tasks and responsibilities set by the direct supervisor.

Shift Details:
