Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Cook for the Food Service Department. The role is full-time and rotates between day and evening shifts at the Norfolk, VA facility.

You will prepare hot foods for patient trayline, café, and functions, including entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items. Requirements include less than 1 year of cook and food service experience, High School Grad or Equivalent (preferred), and Food Handlers Card as mandated by local health regulations.

Overview: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking Cooks for the Food Service Department Shift - Full Time Rotating between days and evenings.

As a cook at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, you will prepare all hot foods for patient trayline, café, and functions including (but not limited to) entrees, vegetables, starches, and bakery items.

• The Food Handler Certification is only required in the following facilities: SNGH, SLH, SOH, SCH and SWRMC (Up to $2,000 Sign-on Bonus for qualified candidates)
• Education High School Grad or Equivalent (Preferred)
• Certification/Licensure Food Handlers Card - Certification - Food Service Certification.
• Food Handlers (as required by local Health Department).
• Experience Less than a year of Cook experience (Required)
• Less than a year of Food Service experience (Required)

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $20.32 - $29.73 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
