Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a seasoned registered nurse to provide clinical leadership within the department and to advance safety and quality initiatives. The role emphasizes simplifying workflow, staff development, and delivering outstanding patient service in a high-volume setting.

The incumbent will lead de-escalation and intervention practices, maintain BLS readiness, and collaborate with the department manager to promote patient-centered care and a Gold Standard of service.

Qualifications

  • 18 months nursing experience required.
  • BSN required; Master’s degree preferred if the graduate degree is not in nursing, then the BSN is required.
  • De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days (Behavioral Health) or 90 days (Emergency Care).
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.
  • Professional specialty nursing certification preferred.

Overview: Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

18 months nursing experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty. Behavioral Health - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. Emergency Care - de-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $47.42 - $68.63 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
