Job Overview

The cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals according to the menu, monitoring methods of food handling, preparation, meal service, and equipment cleaning. Safely and efficiently provides nutritionally appropriate food to residents to maintain and enhance their overall health. Ensures quality food service and nutrition care in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.

General Duties
  1. Prepares meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes; refers to supervisor or dietitian for menu changes.
  2. Reviews menus, resident census information, production guides, and pre-prep sheets to determine food quantities.
  3. Prepares food following safe food handling guidelines per company policy and regulations.
  4. Assists with food ordering, storage, and preparation as designated; prepares food timely to preserve quality and serve on time.
  5. Maintains standards for food preparation and quality; uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required; follows standardized recipes.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • Experience in long-term care facility preferred.
