Job Type: Part-Time positions, Afternoon Shifts Available

Pay Rate: Starting at $18.00 depending on experience

Summary: We are seeking a Cook who embodies core values of Character, Compassion, Commitment, Communication, and Consistency by providing the highest standard of care and first-class customer service.

In this role, you will prepare high-quality foods for our residents, portion food as specified, serve food attractively, assist with inventory and ordering, and maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, among other tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Prepare all food according to the established menu.
  2. Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and serving of food following standardized recipes.
  3. Manage kitchen operations according to policies and procedures.
  4. Follow sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
  5. Clean all food service equipment and storage areas daily.
  6. Suggest menu or recipe changes adhering to dietician guidelines to utilize surplus foods.
  7. Oversee proper food handling to prevent contamination and reduce costs.
  8. Create a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents and visitors.
  9. Respond promptly and courteously to resident requests.
  10. Communicate effectively with residents in their preferred language.
  11. Maintain a safe environment free of hazards.
  12. Practice good body mechanics and safe work habits.
  13. Report safety hazards immediately.
  14. Follow emergency policies and procedures.
  15. Work collaboratively with team members.
  16. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  17. Adhere to attendance policies.
  18. Participate in trainings and meetings.
  19. Dress appropriately per dress code policy.
  20. Refer resident care inquiries to supervisors.
  21. Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  22. Assist with training new dining staff.
  23. Take initiative and seek additional information or solutions.
  24. Handle special projects or assignments.
  25. Coordinate culinary assistants' work.
  26. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Language Ability:

Ability to understand instructions, write simple correspondence, and communicate effectively in small groups.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED, or 1-2 years related experience, or equivalent.

Physical Demands:

Must frequently stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear. Occasionally sit, climb, or balance. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Reasonable accommodations available.
