Job summary

Sun Health is seeking a Cook in Surprise, AZ to prepare and serve meals per recipes and dietary needs, while maintaining safety standards. The role requires following production sheets, proper portioning and temperature control, and delivering visually appealing, high-quality food.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of cooking methods, ServSafe certification, and a Maricopa County Food Handlers Card.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Understanding of sauté, grill, sear, pan fry, poach, braise, steam, blanch, broil, roast and meat/seafood fabrication.
• Able to complete ServSafe Certification.
• Must have Maricopa County Food Handlers Card.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves high-quality food items according to recipes and dietary needs.
• Follows daily production sheets with proper portions and temperatures.
• Tastes all prepared food to confirm flavor and attractive presentation.
• Serves meals or prepares for delivery with correct portioning and temperature.
• Cleans kitchen after preparation and maintains high cleanliness standards.
• Stores or discards excess food per safe handling procedures.
• Keeps refrigerators, freezers and storerooms clean and labeled.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Reports maintenance issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Attends in-service and safety meetings and follows HACCP guidelines.
• Complies with health and sanitation regulations.
• Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, residents and guests.
• Performs job safely in a clean, safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepares and serves high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and dietary needs.
• Follows daily production sheets using outlined standards, accurate portioning and correct temperature.
• Tastes all prepared food items to confirm correct flavoring and ensures attractive presentation.
• Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty.
• Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
• Keeps refrigerators, freezers and storerooms clean and neat.
• Ensures food and supply items are stored and labeled per standards.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Labels, dates and properly stores all food items.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Attends in-service and safety meetings.
• Follows HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) to ensure quality and safety of food supply.
• Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
• Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, residents and guests.
• Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
