JOB REQUIREMENTS: General Summary: This position reports to the Assistant Director of the ADRC of Door County and is key to the effective functioning of the Nutrition Program. This role includes, but is not limited to, overseeing all food ordering and preparation according to safety and dietary guidelines, as well as budget restrictions. Regular attendance, punctuality, and readiness to work at designated locations and times are expected. Responsible for truthful and accurate communication, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare meals according to dietary standards per the Nutrition Manual, consulting with the contracted registered dietician monthly for meal pattern approval.
  2. Prepare frozen meals daily and organize/store frozen meals accordingly.
  3. Order all food and supplies using cost-effective purchasing principles twice weekly or as needed from various vendors.
  4. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment following current food safety standards.
  5. Rotate and store stock when delivered weekly.
  6. Track all food inventory.
  7. Plan monthly menus for both Sturgeon Bay and Washington Island meal sites.
  8. Collaborate with the Assistant ADRC Director and Administrative Assistant for expenditures, budgeting, and account reconciliation.
  9. Coordinate supplies needed for satellite meal sites with meal site managers.
  10. Train team members on ordering procedures to ensure proper backup.
  11. Procure supplies from local stores as needed.
  12. Use the Schedules Plus database to ensure accurate food preparation quantities.
  13. Maintain an up-to-date recipe cookbook for the nutrition program.
  14. Maintain the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) book when new chemicals are received.

General Job Functions:

  1. Provide leadership to kitchen staff, including prep cooks, LTE cooks, casual call cooks, senior aides, community service workers, and volunteers.
  2. Responsible for daily dishwashing, sanitizing workspaces, carts, coolers, and other equipment.
  3. Monitor kitchen equipment for repairs and recommend necessary actions.
  4. Create a welcoming environment by greeting participants and respecting volunteers and co-workers.

Other Experience and Qualifications: At least three years of cooking experience for large groups of people.
