Job description

Position Summary:

Full Time and Part Time Positions Available.

The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising staff, and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Duties:

  • Prepare and portion hot and cold menu items according to recipes and production sheets.
  • Serve resident meals according to scheduled times.
  • Cover for staff call-outs due to illness.
  • Record food and equipment temperatures.
  • Interact with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and proper service.
  • Maintain sanitation standards per health regulations.
  • Practice a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work flexible hours as needed.
  • Track inventory, communicate shortages, and place orders.
  • Label, wrap, and date unused food items properly.
  • Support and follow company policies and procedures.

In the absence of the Dietary Manager, additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure staff clock in on time.
  • Discipline staff as needed.
  • Conduct daily huddle meetings.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or Culinary Tech certification.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, diet orders, and tray tickets.
  • Willingness to learn and use computer software for resident information.
  • Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of dietary healthcare or restaurant experience.
