Compensation Range: $16.85 to $20.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals for residents and staff. This role involves supervising residents, community service workers, and volunteers in the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and sanitation. The cook also performs regular maintenance on kitchen equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Understand banquet serving and preparation
• Have basic understanding of cooking in large volumes
• Prepare meals for onsite and offsite programs
• Read and follow recipes accurately
• Organize, label, and date all dry storage, coolers, and freezers
• Inspect kitchen and dining areas for safety hazards and address issues promptly
• Supervise cleaning of kitchen and dining areas to maintain hygiene
• Maintain timeliness and efficiency
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as a cook, line cook, or banquet cook
• Possess a professional food handler’s card
• Fluent in reading, writing, and communicating in English
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work well with diverse populations
• Responsible and dependable
• Ability to multitask effectively

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds
• Stand for long periods, and perform bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and squatting
• Reach and grasp objects at various heights
