Description

We are hiring a PRN COOK to join our team at Spring Gardens Assisted Living in Peoria, AZ!

The Cook oversees food handling and preparation throughout the kitchen. They are responsible for stocking and maintaining all food stations, ensuring hygienic workspaces, and modifying processes to meet time and quality standards. Healthcare experience is preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Supports the philosophy, mission, commitment, vision, and values of the community.
• Checks the quality, wholesomeness, and quantity of ingredients for menu items.
• Prepares meals and snacks.
• Uses proper food handling practices for storage and preparation.
• Maintains a clean work environment by practicing "clean as you go".
• Reports equipment issues and follows up on repairs.
• Prepares food for the next day, including thawing frozen items.
• Contributes ideas for special occasions and holidays.
• Provides quality food presentation as directed by the Executive Chef.
• Participates in temperature and taste testing, and records meal temperatures.
• Consults with the Executive Chef regarding food standards.
• Performs other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Assisted living dining experience is preferred.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Can read, write, and speak basic English; understands questions from residents and families.
• Can give and follow directions, especially during emergencies.
