We are seeking a talented Cook for St. Luke’s Hospital – New Bedford, MA.

Position Details:

  • Hours: Per Diem
  • Shift: Day/Evening with weekend and holiday rotation; shifts include 4:30am - 1:00pm, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 8:00am - 4:30pm, 10:30am - 7:00pm

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing short-order, made-to-order, and Garde Manger foods for departmental feeding
  • Scratch cooking (soups, stews, chowders, chili)
  • Monitoring food quality, temperature, and flavor; tasting and visual checks
  • Extending recipes accurately to ensure proper yields and control costs
  • Keeping production and temperature records
  • Maintaining cleanliness of refrigerators and freezers
  • Following sanitation guidelines
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Judgment and planning skills for food preparation
  • Minimum of two years culinary experience; institutional experience preferred
  • Ability to pass Southcoast’s culinary exam
  • Serv Safe Certification required within 60 days of hire
  • Must be vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID-19 or have an exemption
  • Compensation based on experience

Pay Range: USD $16.13 - USD $27.27 per hour
