Job summary

The Salvation Army in Mobile, Alabama is seeking a part-time kitchen assistant to prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to established guidelines and schedules. The role includes lifting 25–50 pounds, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and Food Handling Certification; Serv-Safe certification or the ability to become certified is preferred.

• Maintains inventory of kitchen food and supplies to meet needs of kitchen.
• Receive donated goods and process gifts-in-kind documentation.

Schedule/Hours: Days/hours vary; (28 hours per week)This position is responsible for:Prepares, cooks and serves nutritional meals and snacks in accordance with established guidelines and schedules. Ensuring meals are prepared and served in a safe and presentable manner.Key Responsibilities:Assists in preparation of meals. Stores, refrigerates, and freezes foods in a safe mannerCleans dining area. Cleans kitchen facilities and equipment. Maintains high degree of cleanliness in kitchen and dining areaMaintain inventory of kitchen food and supplies to meet needs of kitchen.
