Deli/Seafood Cooks work as part of the Deli/Seafood team, primarily focusing on cooking. Their shift mainly involves cooking tasks but may also include Deli/Seafood Associate duties:
- Prepare and cook products in a warm kitchen with temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Follow safe food handling guidelines according to S.A.F.E. program standards.
- Maintain appropriate temperatures and prevent cross-contamination during production and storage.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Work safely and adhere to safety standards.
- Learn and promote our variety of deli and seafood products.
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Work in temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator, freezer, hot food prep).
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to promote products.
- Operate and clean equipment safely, including knives, slicers, fryers, ovens, and more.
- Prepare party tray orders following specifications.
- Weigh, wrap, and label products using scales.
- Cut meats and cheeses with electric slicers per customer requests.
- Fill deli cases with salads and other products, ensuring rotation and expiry checks.
Essentials
- At least 18 years old.
- Strong knowledge of food handling and sanitation.
- Ability to read and follow food specifications, recipes, and gauges.
- Basic computer, math, and measurement skills.
- Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Adherence to dress code, appearance, and hygiene standards.
- Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only).
- Potential cross-training in other departments.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Pushing and pulling up to 20 lbs force occasionally.
- Occasional sitting, walking, kneeling, stooping, squatting, climbing, overhead reaching, and shoveling.
- Frequent head turning, trunk bending, reaching, grasping, pinching, finger manipulation, and feeling.
- Constant forward reaching, standing, and handling.
