Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Flint Hills Job Corps Center in Manhattan, KS. This role prepares center meals according to planned menus, following government and management directives.

You will train cook helpers and ensure a safe, hygienic kitchen environment while delivering appetizing meals. We seek candidates with a High School diploma, ServSafe/food handler certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and at least one year of food-handling experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe/Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days; Manager Certification preferred
• One year experience as a food handler
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods as directed for center meals and events.
• Instruct cook helpers and work-based learning students in safe, hygienic methods of food preparation.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly condition and keep work area safe and sanitary.
• Assist in cleaning assignments to support cafeteria operations.
• Manage stockroom commodities and suggest replenishment items.
• Promote positive customer service throughout the facility.

• Promote and support positive customer service through the facility.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• ServSafe/Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. ServSafe/Food Handler Manager Certification preferred.
• One (1) year experience as a food handler.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
• A valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.
