Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, following our established policies and procedures, and as directed by the Head Cook, Registered Dietitian, and/or Director of Dietary Services.

Position Details

Cook position, Full-time, 5 am to 1 pm.

Responsibilities

1. Review menus prior to food preparation and inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diets are served to residents.
2. Prepare meals according to planned menus, ensuring they are palatable and visually appealing.
3. Serve food following established portion control procedures.
4. Prepare food for therapeutic diets as per planned menus.
5. Use standardized recipes and accommodate special diet orders.
6. Prepare and serve bedtime snacks.
7. Ensure appropriate equipment and utensils accompany resident meal trays.
8. Review care plans to ensure food information aligns with foods served.
9. Prepare and serve substitute foods for residents who refuse certain foods.
10. Follow infection control policies and procedures during daily tasks.
11. Assist with or oversee daily cleaning duties per policies and procedures.
12. Maintain a clean and safe department environment, ensuring equipment and supplies are properly maintained.
13. Assist in keeping food storage areas clean and well-organized.

Qualifications

• Prior experience cooking in a skilled nursing facility preferred.
• Food Sanitation Certification preferred.
