JOB REQUIREMENTS: KAC is seeking a reliable Part-Time Cook to join our kitchen team to prepare nutritious meals for elders in our community and people with special needs. This role is ideal for someone who loves cooking and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. The PT Cook is responsible for preparation and serving of meals for contract sales, cafeteria operations, and KAC meetings. This position is responsible for following established menus, recipes, and diet guidelines.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare, cook and serve large volume nutritious meals per HAACP specifications in a timely manner.
2. Package and label all individually packaged meals.
3. Utilize proper kitchen sanitation and cleanup techniques.
4. Maintain inventory, rotate stock, minimize spoilage, and inform supervisor of needs.
5. Complete all paperwork accurately by end of shift.
6. Provide monthly waste, stock transfer, and spoilage data to supervisor.
7. Maintain food temperature and portion logs daily.
8. Assist in evaluating and training participants in the training kitchen.
9. Supervise and assign tasks to participants in the kitchen.
10. Perform general cleanup of kitchen areas and equipment.
11. Ensure safety of all individuals in the kitchen.
12. Participate in staff development activities to improve cultural proficiency and diversity work.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Occasional Responsibilities

1. Substitute at other KAC facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Must obtain a ServSafe Certificate within six months of hire and maintain it.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
• Some experience in food service preferred.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and stooping. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds with help, 50 pounds alone. Ability to walk stairs, bend, and climb ladders. Visual, auditory, and touch capabilities required for job functions.
