Job summary

Decatur County Hospital is seeking a dietary aide to support patient meal service and cafe operations. You will help prepare hot and cold meals using approved recipes, stock supplies, and maintain a clean, organized dining area.

The role requires strong attention to detail, reliable communication, and the ability to work as part of a busy dietary team. Cross-training across the department is encouraged.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of health care food service experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred or must obtain within 1 year.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold meals for patients and cafe using approved menus and recipes.
• Assist with stocking food and supplies, cleaning, washing dishes, desserts, and rolling silverware.
• Assist with special events as directed by the Dietary Director.
• Cross-train throughout the dietary department.

Job description

Summary: Prepares hot and cold food for patients and cafe food service using approved menus and recipes. Requires strong presentation skills and the ability to create appetizing dishes. Assists with all aspects of meal preparation, including stocking food and supplies, cleaning, washing dishes, preparing desserts, rolling silverware, and assisting with special events as directed by the Dietary Director. All employees are expected to cross train throughout the dietary department.

Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years of health care food service experience strongly preferred. ServSafe certification preferred; or must obtain within one year of employment. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Heavy emphasis on attention to detail and ability to think critically.
