Job summary

Decatur County Hospital is seeking a dietary aide to prepare hot and cold meals for patients and cafe operations, using approved menus and recipes.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to think critically while assisting with stocking, cleaning, desserts, and special events under the Dietary Director's guidance. Cross-training across the dietary department is expected.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of health care food service experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred; or must obtain within one year of employment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Attention to detail and ability to think critically.
• Basic experience with Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold food for patients, cafe food service, Leon Community Meal Site, and other meal programs using approved menus and recipes.
• Assist with meal preparation, including stocking food and supplies, cleaning, washing dishes, preparing desserts, rolling silverware, and assisting with special events as directed by the Dietary Director.
• Cross train throughout the dietary department.

Requires strong presentation skills and the ability to create appetizing dishes. Assists with all aspects of meal preparation, including stocking food and supplies, cleaning, washing dishes, preparing desserts, rolling silverware, and assisting with special events as directed by the Dietary Director. All employees are expected to cross train throughout the dietary department.

Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years of health care food service experience strongly preferred. ServSafe certification preferred; or must obtain within one year of employment. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Heavy emphasis on attention to detail and ability to think critically. Basic experience with excel preferred.
