Position Details

• Title: Food Service - Cook
• Compensation: $21.06 per hour
• Work Hours: 6.25 hours per day (for the 2024-2025 school year)
• FLSA: Non-Exempt

Qualifications

• Food Manager’s License
• Ability to read and communicate in English
• Accurately count, weigh, measure, and perform basic math functions
• Ability to adapt to sudden and unpredictable changes
• Follow instructions and take initiative
• Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, reach, and squat regularly
• Dexterous use of hands and fingers
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently

Environmental Requirements

• Work in hot, humid environments
• Work briefly in cold or below-zero environments
• Work in noisy environments

• Reports to: Director of Food & Nutrition Services

Essential Job Functions

• Interact professionally with staff, students, visitors, and co-workers
• Prepare food following recipes and guidelines
• Wash dishes using dish machine or three-compartment sink
• Set up and serve food on the line, assemble utensils
• Monitor and record food temperatures, report unsafe temperatures, and take corrective actions
• Serve food as instructed
• Manage food quantities, prepare more if needed, record leftovers
• Disassemble and clean the serving area
• Properly store or discard leftovers
• Follow HACCP guidelines
• Operate POS system, handle cash, and apply Offer vs. Serve principles

Other Functions

• Arrive on time, dressed appropriately
• Follow district, building, and department rules
• Assist with inventory and cleaning tasks
• Practice proper hand hygiene
• Participate in meetings and training
• Perform additional tasks as assigned
