Job description

Job Title: Cook

Location: Jersey Gardens Mall

Compensation: $14.00 to $19.00 per hour

Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing cooked foods and performing all station functions including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg Cooking. The role involves communicating ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers, providing high-quality service to customers and associates at all times. Additional responsibilities are assigned by management. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions:

1. Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food and beverage products.
2. Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to accurately plan production and requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
3. Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment.
4. Practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices, complying with HACCP standards.
5. Operate various kitchen equipment, measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
6. Stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of products.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

• Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards required.
• Minimum of 1 year of related cooking experience; experience in high-volume and casual dining environments preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques for Soups, Sauté, Broiler, Fry, and Pantry.
• Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with customers.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to bend, twist, and stand for extended periods.
• Frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions.
• Frequent use of sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates.
• Work often occurs in hot environments.
