Base pay range

$22.00/hr - $23.00/hr

Position Summary

The Cook performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dietary Department, including preparing meals correctly and timely, supervising staff, and is accountable to the Dietary Manager. In the absence of the Dietary Manager, the Cook oversees and supports the staff.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare and portion hot and cold menu items according to recipes and production sheets.
2. Serve resident meals according to scheduled times.
3. Cover for staff members who call out due to illness.
4. Record all food and equipment temperatures during meals.
5. Interact with residents and staff to ensure satisfaction and proper service.
6. Maintain sanitation standards per state regulations.
7. Practice a clean and safe work environment.
8. Work flexible hours as needed.
9. Track inventory and communicate supply needs to the Dietary Manager.
10. Label, wrap, and date unused food items.
11. Support and follow company policies and procedures.

In the absence of the Dietary Manager

1. Ensure staff clock in on time.
2. Discipline staff as needed.
3. Conduct daily huddles for communication and direction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or Culinary Tech certification.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, diet orders, and tray tickets.
• Ability to learn and use resident information software.
• Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Experience

• At least 1 year of dietary (healthcare) or restaurant experience.
