West Delray Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our Food Services Department. The Cook will be responsible for preparing delicious, nutritious meals in accordance with planned menus, diet orders, and facility standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for serving our residents.
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, recipes, and special dietary needs.
Ensure meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served on time.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
Coordinate with dietitian and nursing staff for diet changes and special requests.
Assist with meal service, substitutes, snacks, and special event meals.
Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
Complete required reports and communicate concerns to the Food Services Director.
Adhere to HIPAA and all facility policies.
Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
Knowledge of food procedures, sanitation, and safety standards.
Able to understand English and make independent decisions when needed.
Ability to maintain kitchen supplies, equipment, and cleanliness.
Willing to learn and adopt new food preparation methods.
Must meet facility health requirements, including possible physical examination.
Ability to taste and smell food to evaluate quality.
Ability to lift between 5 and 35 pounds as needed.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Nursing Home experience: Preferred
One (1) year of food service experience in a hospital, nursing facility, or similar setting preferred (but not required).
