Job summary

West Delray Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dedicated Cook to join the Food Services Department. The Cook will prepare delicious, nutritious meals in accordance with planned menus, diet orders, and facility standards.

The ideal candidate will show strong organizational skills and a passion for serving our residents. The role reports to the Food Services Director and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment while following safety and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Able to understand English and make independent decisions when needed.
• Willing to learn and adopt new food preparation methods.
• Must meet facility health requirements, including possible physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, recipes, and special dietary needs.
• Ensure meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served on time.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Coordinate with dietitian and nursing staff for diet changes and special requests.
• Assist with meal service, substitutes, snacks, and special event meals.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of kitchen, equipment, and storage areas.
• Complete required reports and communicate concerns to the Food Services Director.
• Adhere to HIPAA and all facility policies.

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, recipes, and special dietary needs.
• Ensure meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served on time.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.

• Ability to lift between 5 and 35 pounds as needed.
• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

Experience

• Nursing Home experience: Preferred
• One (1) year of food service experience in a hospital, nursing facility, or similar setting preferred (but not required).
