Spring Hills Middletown is seeking a dedicated Chef de Cuisine to lead hands-on meal preparation and support kitchen operations in a fast-paced senior living setting. Under the Executive Chef, you will help plan menus, ensure dietary needs are met, train staff, manage food and labor costs, and uphold health and sanitation standards to deliver nutritious, appetizing meals for residents.

  • SNF/ALF experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals aligned with residents' dietary needs.
  • Follow menus, recipes, and portion guidelines for consistency.
  • Collaborate on menu planning and service flow with the Executive Chef.
  • Support kitchen operations to ensure timely meal service.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on food prep, safety, and service.
  • Maintain an organized workstation for each service.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and sanitation.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation to meet standards.
  • Help manage food and labor costs within budget.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef de Cuisine to join our culinary team. This role is responsible for both hands-on meal preparation and supporting the overall kitchen operations, ensuring all food is prepared with quality, consistency, and care.

Working closely with the Executive Chef, you will help lead daily kitchen functions, maintain high standards of food service, and contribute to a positive dining experience for our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering great food and service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and prescribed diets
  • Follow established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines while maintaining consistency and presentation standards
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning, service flow, and resident feedback
  • Support daily kitchen operations to ensure all meals are prepared and served on time
  • Train and guide kitchen staff on proper food preparation, safety, and service standards
  • Keep your workstation organized and ready for each meal service
  • Ensure all food is handled, stored, and prepared in compliance with health and sanitation regulations
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portioning to meet company standards
  • Assist in managing food and labor costs within budgetary guidelines
  • Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring proper functionality at all times

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; culinary degree preferred
  • SNF/ALF experience
  • ServSafe Certified preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of culinary experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (majority of shift)
  • Frequent use of hands for food preparation and kitchen tasks
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and heavier items occasionally
  • Ability to bend, reach, and perform various kitchen movements as needed
