Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Services, Inc. (DARS, Inc.)—Manos House is seeking a dependable Cook to join our residential treatment program for adolescent males. You will prepare nutritious meals, mentor youth, and help instill practical life skills in a supportive setting.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends, a focus on safety and healthy eating, and opportunities to contribute beyond the kitchen through hands-on activities and mentorship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least one year of experience in a commercial, institutional, or comparable food service setting.
• Nutrition training or related experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred; assistance with obtaining certification will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious, balanced meals according to the daily schedule.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen per health standards.
• Mentor and supervise youth in kitchen activities and teach life skills.
• Order, receive, inventory, store, and distribute food and supplies, minimizing waste.

Education

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious, balanced meals according to the facility's daily schedule and program needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health standards and applicable food safety requirements.
• Mentor and supervise youth participating in kitchen activities, providing opportunities to learn meal preparation, food safety, cleanliness, teamwork, and responsibility.
• Order, receive, inventory, store, and distribute food items and kitchen supplies while minimizing waste and maintaining appropriate accountability.
• Monitor and document food temperatures, storage conditions, and food production records.
• Maintain daily breakfast and lunch rosters as required by applicable program guidelines.
• Assist with kitchen operations and other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the facility.
