Job summary

Sun Outdoors in Florida (Citra) is seeking a dependable cook to prepare a variety of menu items, operate kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean, sanitary workspace in accordance with Health Department rules.

You will work with the Restaurant Manager on daily specials, ensure item availability, and support shift opening/closing duties. Requirements include a high school diploma, 6 months restaurant cook experience, food handling certification, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 6 months of restaurant cook experience required.
• Must have Food Handling Certification and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food ordered by customers using various kitchen equipment.
• Performs shift opening and closing duties as directed by the Restaurant Manager.
• Maintains clean, sanitary kitchen and storage areas per Health Dept. rules.
• Restocks products as needed during the shift.
• Collaborates with Restaurant Manager on daily specials and new menu items.
• Monitors menu cycle to ensure availability and reports shortages.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Cooks prepare all food items. They are also responsible for cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the kitchen and surrounding areas.

Job Duties

• Prepares food ordered by restaurant customers using a variety of kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.) (Essential)
• Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager such as starting equipment and cleaning of refrigeration units, grill and surrounding area, as well as other kitchen equipment (Essential)
• Maintains cooking areas and ensures kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by the Health Department Rules and Regulations. Reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the Restaurant Manager (Essential)
• Restocks products as needed throughout shift
• Collaborates with Restaurant Manager to determine daily specials, new menu items, and innovative ways to cook and prepare food
• Regularly checks menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the Restaurant Manager of any shortages
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• 6 months in Previous restaurant cook experience (Required)
• Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email and the internet
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation and presentation
• Professional appearance
• Required Certifications/Licensures:(Food Handling Certification)
