Arlo Hotels Line Cook Job Description

Arlo Hotels, an independent lifestyle hotel, is actively seeking a dynamic Line Cook.

Role Overview: Line cooks prepare all menu items during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and event services. Their focus is on learning and perfecting techniques, speed, and consistency. They are vital to every outlet.

Responsibilities and Authorities
  • Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in various situations.
  • Uphold honesty and integrity.
  • Deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences.
  • Coordinate and multitask job duties in an active environment.
Specific Duties
  • Prepare assigned food items following recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Set up stations with appropriate par levels and restock items as needed.
  • Ensure freshness and correctness of mise en place on your station.
  • Prepare ingredients or specific recipes as directed by the Sous Chefs.
  • Keep work areas clean, sanitized, and organized, including prep tables, sinks, walk-ins, lowboys, floors, dry storage, ovens, and stovetops.
  • Possess strong cooking skills and knowledge of food service equipment.
  • Follow sanitary food handling procedures.
  • Remain calm and work well under pressure.
  • Have every item prepped signed off by the Executive Chef before storage.
  • Practice proper food cooling and storing procedures.
  • Ensure tools needed for the station are available and properly stored.
  • Use sharp cutlery responsibly at all times.
  • Prepare daily prep lists for your station and the prep team.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of line cook experience in NYC at a comparable restaurant or hotel.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stay on your feet for 8+ hours.
Knowledge
  • Good knife skills.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment such as Vita Prep, Robo-Coup, ovens, and burners.
