Job summary

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital - St. Louis, located in Chesterfield, MO, seeks a dedicated kitchen associate to support meal preparation and food service within an inpatient rehab setting.

You will work under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian, ensure meals align with dietary guidelines, and help maintain a clean, compliant kitchen supporting patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior food service or customer service experience with cooking experience preferred.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure meals are ready at the specified times and tests foods being cooked to ensure proper seasoning etc.
• Consult with the Registered Dietitian on modified diets, as necessary.
• Supervise Nutritional Services workers when washing, trimming or preparing food.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
• Make sauces, soups, stews, casseroles and desserts meeting established dietary guidelines.
• Cook meat, fish and poultry in a variety of ways such as baking, roasting, broiling and steaming.
• Maintain kitchen in a clean, neat and organized manner and adheres to all infection control policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned
