Job summary

Channahon Park District is seeking a Cook to prepare and present high-quality meals for members and guests at Heritage Bluffs Golf Club. You will follow recipes, uphold sanitation standards, and support daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced golf club environment.

The role requires someone who can work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak season events with a strong eye for detail and teamwork. Experience in a kitchen and proper food handling is preferred.

Location: Heritage Bluffs Golf Club
Department: Food & Beverage
Reports To: Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager
Status: Full-Time or Part-Time, Seasonal or Year-Round as needed

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality food for members, guests, tournaments, outings, and club events. This role supports daily kitchen operations by following recipes, maintaining sanitation standards, assisting with prep and service, and helping deliver a consistent dining experience in a fast-paced golf club environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to club recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Set up, stock, and maintain assigned prep and line stations before, during, and after service.
  • Assist with food preparation for a la carte dining, banquets, golf outings, and special events.
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and cooking temperatures to ensure consistency and food safety.
  • Label, date, store, and rotate food products properly to minimize waste and maintain inventory control.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, including equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and storage areas.
  • Follow all local health regulations, food handling standards, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with chefs, servers, and other team members to ensure efficient and timely service.
  • Support opening and closing duties, including cleaning checklists, station breakdown, and restocking.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and reporting shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns to management.
  • Perform other related kitchen and food service duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a cook, line cook, prep cook, or in a similar food service role preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and safe food handling practices.
  • Food handler certification preferred or ability to obtain certification as required.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow recipes, portion controls, and verbal or written instructions.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak golf season events.
  • Professional appearance, dependability, and a positive attitude.
Work Schedule and Conditions

This position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays depending on club dining hours, special events, and golf season demand. The Cook works in a busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, sharp equipment, and occasional high-volume service periods.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
  • Ability to work safe in hot and humid and fast paced conditions.
