Job summary

Milestone Retirement is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve meals that meet nutritional and safety standards for our residents in Arlington, WA. The position supports culinary operations and dining services while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen environment.

The role starts at $20 per hour and requires at least one year of food service experience, with First Aid certification and a Food Handler’s Permit as applicable by state laws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of food service experience; three years preferred.
• Food Handler’s Permit (as required by state).
• First Aid certification required.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure food is stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including equipment and prep areas.
• Assist in training and mentoring culinary staff.
• Monitor resident preferences and satisfaction.
• Uphold food safety standards and compliance.
• Foster teamwork and a positive work environment.
• Report elder maltreatment or abuse as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Director of Culinary Services, the Cook prepares and serves meals that meet nutritional and safety standards while ensuring resident satisfaction. This role supports culinary operations and dining services while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This position has a starting hourly wage of $20.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements
• Ensure food is safely stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including all equipment and prep areas
• Assist in training and mentoring culinary staff
• Monitor and respond to resident preferences and satisfaction
• Uphold safety and health standards, including food safety compliance
• Foster teamwork and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
• Report any elder maltreatment or abuse as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For
